First United Methodist Church of Stillwater
The first Methodist Church in Minnesota, founded in 1846.
"He said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' " - Matthew 22:37-39

The mission of the adult activities is to organize and provide events to enhance Christian learning experiences and fellowship.

Adult Education
The "Conversations" adult forum views and discusses videotapes about various current issues. The forum meets during Children's Sunday School following Worship from September through May at 10:45 - 11:45 a.m.

The Adult study group meets weekly on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. from September through May.

The Women's Bible Study Group meets weekly on Thursday at 7:00 a.m. at a local restaurant all year round.

Adult study groups also meet one weekday evening throughout Advent and Lent.
United Methodist Women (UMW)
All women members in the United Methodist Church are members of United Methodist Women. UMW is a mission-based ministry whose purpose is to:
  • know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ;
  • develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and
  • expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
There are four circles (Ruth, Ada, New Beginnings and Winners) at FUMC. All women members are invited to join a circle, or join as a member-at-large.

UMW supports the children and youth of our church who attend a United Methodist camp by providing financial assistance ("camperships"). They also support the youth's annual summer journey to serve in the Appalachian Service Project (ASP).

Contact Ellen Campbell or Jeanette Nelson for more information about the UMW at our church.
Wednesday Evening SupperFood! Food! Food!
United Methodists around the world love to share food with their fellowship. And that's especially true here in Minnesota.

Join us each week when Stillwater schools are in session for Wednesday Evening Supper at 5:15 p.m. Sometimes it's a potluck, but usually it is a wonderful dinner served by the ladies of the church.

We also hold the following special events:
  • Brunches after Worship for special occasions, such as Rally Day
  • Annual Christmas Progressive Dinner
  • Annual Festa di Pasta Italian Dinner
  • Youth fund raisers, such Super Bowl Sunday subs or spaghetti dinners
  • Bake sale fund raisers
Men's Activities
The men of our church gather for breakfast on the 2nd Saturday of the month at 7:45 a.m. at Joseph's Restaurant (Hwy. 36 in Oak Park Heights).

The United Methodist Men meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the church building for information and fellowship. The UMM is open to any man who is a member or friend of FUMC.

Men from our church also participate in the Stillwater Church Softball League. Games are played weekly May through July at Jaycee Field on West Myrtle Street (County Road 12).

Warm Hearts
Not to be outdone by the men, the women of FUMC meet for breakfast on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 8:00 a.m. at Baker's Square Restaurant (Hwy. 36 in Stillwater).
50+/50-
This group welcomes mature people who are at least 50 years young, more or less, for social events and outings.
Adults "R" Us
This is the group for you if you enjoy a fun evening with friends.
County Road 12 in StillwaterCommunity Service
First United Methodist Church has adopted a section of County Road 12 (West Myrtle Street) for over 10 years. Work groups gather litter from this section of road twice each year.

FUMC is an active supporter of the community food shelf in Stillwater. Members donate food and volunteer to work at the food shelf.

Our building is used for many community events, including Boy Scouts, American Red Cross blood drives, and as a polling place for secular elections.
Camping
Camping is a tradition in the United Methodist Church. There are many camps for both single and married adults. Families are especially encouraged to attend one of the Family Camps.
